THE "GIVEN-NEW" PRINCIPLE
Exercise 4
Purpose: This exercise encourages you to take a critical look at a piece of text, and to analyse
whether the writer has applied the 'given-new' principle in the sample text.
Instructions:
In this exercise, you will view a sequence of sentences. As each new sentence is added to the text,
click either 'yes' or 'no' to answer whether the writer has made correct use of the 'given-new' principle.
