Exercise: 1 / 5

SELECT THE 'LIGHT' OPTION
Exercise 1

Purpose: For easy reading, sentence subjects should be kept short, and the main verb should occur relatively near the start of complex sentences. The exercise which follows helps you check whether you can recognise the main verbs in complex sentences. If you are able to locate the main verb, you can see whether or not a sentence follows the light-before-heavy principle.
