Purpose: The following exercise gives you practice in distinguishing between the sentence connectors "Conversely", "On the contrary", and "In contrast / By contrast ".

Pre-exercise Reading: Read and become familiar with the different meanings and uses of "Conversely", "On the contrary" and "In contrast / By contrast " (adversative connectors) before attempting this exercise.
