Purpose: The following exercise gives you practice in distinguishing between the sentence connectors "in contrast to", "contrary to" and "unlike".

Pre-exercise Reading: Read and become familiar with the different meanings and uses of "in contrast to" ("unlike"), "contrary to" and "despite" before attempting this exercise.
